The English Premier League games continued at the weekend. Newcastle United had a good win defeating Crystal Palace away by 2-0 . Brighton managed a last gasp draw with a penalty to make it 1-1 against Liverpool. Leeds United had an away win at Everton by 1-0 in a game that had so many chances it could have finished 5-5. Manchester City did score 5 defeating Burnley by 5-0 whilst West Bromwich Albion edged Sheffield United 1-0 in a game at the bottom of the table.
Manchester United came back from 2 goals down to defeat Southampton 3-2 thanks to two goals from Ediinson Cavani, the last goal coming in the final minute of the game. Chelsea played out a goalless draw against Tottenham. This point leaves Tottenham at the top of the League above Liverpool with a superior goal difference. The Arsenal v Wolverhampton game contained 10 minutes of additional time in the first half following a sickening clash of heads between David Luiz of Arsenal and Wolverhampton’s Jimenez who was stretched off and rushed to hospital. Luiz , whom had continued sporting a bandage on his cut head was replaced at half time. Wolverhampton were the better team and a solid defensive performance in the second half lead to a 2-1 victory and moved them up to sixth place in the Premier League.
At the bottom of the Premier League Sheffield United have one point whilst Fulham and Burnley are the other two clubs fighting to get out of the bottom 3.
At all games a minutes silence was held as a mark of respect following the death of Diego Maradona this week.
The Champions League continues this week. Atletico Madrid take on Bayern Munich. Liverpool play Ajax .Sevilla play Chelsea and Juventus take on Dynamo Kiev.
