On July 8, 2025, Europe’s leading sustainable sourcing show, Source Fashion, opened with great fanfare at London’s Olympia Exhibition Centre, recording a historic opening-day attendance — a 23% increase year-on-year. Global buyers, retailers, and sourcing professionals gathered to explore the path toward greener industry transformation.
The event brought together 250 sustainable manufacturers from 22 countries and regions including the UK, India, China, France, and Turkey, showcasing innovations in apparel, fabrics, and technology. Participating brands included John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, All Saints, Next, River Island, and Jaded London, all highlighting responsible sourcing and circular fashion practices.
Show Director Suzanne Ellingham emphasized that Source Fashion is more than a sourcing platform — it is a space for dialogue, transparency, and meaningful industry collaboration. On the Source Catwalk, trends like “Natural Luminescence”, “Retro Glamour”, and “Joyful Creativity” took the stage, with partner brand Reskinned showcasing the growing appeal of second-hand fashion.
The Source Debates stage focused on pressing challenges. Experts urged a balance between “good information” and “easy access,” advocating a buy once, wear longer, repairable clothing model. Representatives from Neem London and Phase London stressed the importance of brand loyalty and product value in the post-growth era.
Linda Peddie, executive at New Look, called for unified legislation, transparent data, and cross-sector coordination — urging the industry to listen to diverse and emerging voices. Sustainability consultant Simon Platts identified overconsumption as the biggest barrier and emphasized that true business sustainability must be rooted in data and genuine partnerships.
On July 9, organizers launched a bold new initiative: a £500,000 investment to support 15 traditional British manufacturers in scaling internationally over the next three years. The first selected companies include Courtney and Co, the UK’s last button maker, and Alexander Manufacturing. Selected businesses will receive fully funded participation in three shows, exclusive marketing support, and global exposure. The list will be refreshed every 18 months to create a long-term support mechanism.
Applications are now open to high-potential producers across textiles, components, and other sectors. Simon Platts, founder of SP&KO, noted that this initiative could open global doors for financially constrained but high-potential manufacturers.
The exhibition received an enthusiastic response from both exhibitors and buyers. First-time participants Francis Wacziarg Group and Atiglobal secured multiple orders from UK and European clients. Other Way Sports Ltd. reported a large volume of orders on day one, praising Source Fashion as an “unmissable premium matchmaking platform.”
Major fashion groups also made their presence felt, including LVMH, Burberry, and ASOS, engaging in key discussions around sustainable sourcing, supply chain transparency, and regulatory trends — driving the fashion industry toward a more responsible global future.
