（By May Zhao)Less than 24 hours after the conclusion of the Euro Super Series, Scotland’s curling stars Bruce Mouat and Jen Dodds returned to the ice at the Stirling Mixed Doubles Invitational, producing an impressive opening-day performance.
In the morning session, the former World Champions defeated compatriots Laura Watt and Kyle Waddell 7–2, before edging past the world No.2-ranked Australian duo Tahli Gill and Dean Hewitt 9–7. Despite conceding four points in the opening end, Dodds delivered a pinpoint takeout to immediately level the score, and the Scots gradually took control.
Mouat had only just led his men’s team to victory at the Euro Super Series the day before, while Dodds fell narrowly short in the women’s final, yet both seamlessly switched formats to underline their Olympic mixed doubles credentials. “This is the perfect start to our season,” said Dodds. “It’s a real test physically and mentally, and I feel in the best shape I’ve ever been.”
Team GB’s depth was also on display. Ross Whyte and Hailey Duff stunned world No.1-ranked Estonian pair Marie Kaldvee and Harri Lill, while Bobby Lammie and Rebecca Morrison, as well as Watt and Waddell, also picked up wins — highlighting the strength and momentum of British curling.
